Our History

Our team members have over 60 years hard-core commercial experience in delivering business viability, rationalisation and reconstruction services to predominantly private and public companies as well as businesses who, for the most part, have operated in the SME sector. Our Clients’ needs have required us to provide comprehensive field based services which, over an extensive number of assignments in a variety of industries, has resulted in us having a hands on understanding of the strategic, marketing, operations and management control functions of the business.

As a result, the value we bring to the table is a direct result of extensive dealings with an vast array of key business areas ranging from risk mitigation, ROI maximisation, business survival and growth; all aimed at boosting shareholder value and sustainable free cash flow. With our team’s hands-on involvement in many many scores of material business transactions (acquisitions, mergers, rationalisations, reconstructions and divestitures), we have gained a wide exposure to, and deep knowledge of, business risk, the pitfalls and blunders to avoid, profit strategies and business designs that will and won’t work, as well as widespread commercial debt, equity and quasi equity instrument evaluation and re-organisation where required.

Our diversified commercial experience regularly leads us having continuous negotiations and involvement with accountants, bankers, lawyers , secured and unsecured creditors and, from time to time, external controllers.  We understand what it is for a corporation to sail close to the wind and what steps companies must take to recover and boost shareholder value.

By focussing on boosting shareholder value via presenting and executing practical, well crafted solutions, we have been usually, but not always, been able to avoid the need to seek external controllers as history shows that such solutions do not necessarily maximise shareholder value. This view appears to be  supported by the prospective impact of the 2017 Safe Harbour legislation and potential Corporations Act (Cth) 2001 relief from contravention of s588G (ie insolvent trading provisions) of that Act.

Our Experience

These are some of the 40+ different sectors in which the Aylward Street team have had senior hands-on commercial management experience reporting principally to CEO’s / Boards , Lenders and Investors/ Shareholders as required . Our Roles and Functions have in many instances been akin to those of a Chief Restructuring Officer’s. Other key commercial aspects include acting as lead manager of many scores of merger/ acquisition/ divestiture projects focussing on the investment and finance decisions as well as the pivotal post acquisition recovery/growth phases – often under extremely difficult and sensitive commercial circumstances.

Our members’ experience includes dealing with clients with staff up to 750 or chains (including franchised chains) up to 300 outlets however we are very comfortable dealing with any business needing our services.
